In February, I hosted a live demonstration of the PHOTARCH method at Scandinavian Photo in Oslo, in collaboration with Fujifilm. The evening focused on showing how the method works in practice, using the GFX100II paired with the 120mm macro lens.
I conducted three separate demonstrations, walking the audience through the core principles: a single key light, a consistent lighting angle, and a white background that preserves shadow depth. The GFX100II handled the detail work well — the combination of resolution and lens performance suited the demands of close-range artefact photography.
The discussions with attendees were direct and useful. There is genuine interest in how standardised photography can make archaeological collections more comparable across institutions — and more practically usable for research.
Thanks to Fujifilm Nordic and Scandinavian Photo Oslo.
